Awards for Students
Jenkins Memorial Scholarship for Teacher Education
$3,000 scholarship in installments
High School Seniors
Deadline: Postmarked by December 15th to the NYS PTA office
The purpose of the scholarship is to assist outstanding students in preparing for the teaching profession. High School Seniors who plan on a career in teaching and attend a SUNY college or two year college and plan to transfer to a SUNY college may apply. Youth Humanitarian Award in Memory of Stanley Marcus
An engraved plaque and a monetary award of $250.00
High School Junior or Senior
Deadline: Postmarked by January 31st to the Region Direction
This award is presented to a high school junior or senior students who best exemplify the humanitarian principles of Stanley Marcus who served as third vice president of the New York State Congress of Parents and Teachers. Each Region may submit one nominee for this state award from those submitted by the high school PTA units. Applications are on nyspta.org. For more information, click here.
Awards for Teachers
Teacher Fellowship for Graduate Study in Memory of Richard Gazzola
$3,000 Fellowship
Deadline: Postmark by June 15th to the NYS PTA office
In 1992, the Fellowship was name to honor a “Master Teacher,” Richard Gazzola, who served on the New York State PTA Board of Directors for many years. The purpose of this award is to encourage excellent teachers to stay in the classroom by providing an opportunity for them to improve their teaching skills, update their professional knowledge and expand their professional perspective. Awards for Volunteers
Leadership Development Award in Honor of Jane Skrzypek
Deadline: Postmark by June 15th to the NYS PTA office
The award is given in recognition of outstanding leader in your PTA who, by his or her actions, inspires others to volunteer and assume leadership positions. Each region may submit one nominee to the State. From the nominees submitted, one recipient will be chosen. For more information, click here.
Family Engagement Award in Honor of Jami-Beth Knapp
Deadline: Apply online by May 15th at nyspta.org
Family engagement in education is a critical strategy for ensuring students’ academic achievement graduation from high school and overall success in life. This award will recognize an individual or group of individuals, who demonstrate innovative and unique strategies to encourage and involve parents as equal partners in their child’s education. Recipient of this award will receive an engraved clock and an invitation with a guest to the NYS PTA Banquet held Saturday night at the NYS PTA Annual Convention. For more information, click here.
Advocate in Action Award

This award is to acknowledge the involvement of PTA members in their child’s education as well as in their PTA. Applicant must be a PTA member who has participated in at least 8 of the 20 activities listed on the application. There is a $1.00 fee if mailed. For more information, click here.
Community Service Award
Fee: $75.00

This award was given to a group of individuals in thankful recognition and gratitude for what they have achieved on behalf of the children and youth in their school, community and/or state. For more information, click here.
Honorary Life Membership
Fee $55.00 supports the Twin Projects

A PTA unit, council or region may award an Honorary Life Membership to an individual as recognition of distinguished service to children and youth. Recipients worthy of honor need not be PTA members, nor well-known beyond their own area or service. For more information, click here.
Distinguish Service Award
Fee $75.00

This award is given to PTA officers or members who have devoted exemplary service to the maintenance and growth of the PTA. The Distinguished Service recipients must be PTA members who have been awarded a New York State Honorary Life Membership. Fro more information, click here.
Diamond Award
Fee: $250.00

The Diamond Award provides units, councils and region PTAs a way to honor someone through PTA while also supporting the work of our organization. For more information, click here.
Golden Oak Award
Fee: $150.00

This award provides units, councils and region PTAs a way to honor someone through PTA while also supporting the work of our organization, as all proceeds will be directed toward NYS PTA leadership development efforts. For more information, click here.
